Build & edit with Kerf AI

Connect your own Google Gemini key to generate full sites, create new pages in your design’s look from Word/Markdown notes, and edit sections in place.

Kerf includes a complete suite of AI design and editing tools powered directly by Google Gemini. Because you use your own Gemini API key, there is no monthly AI subscription and no token markup.

Connect your Google Gemini API key

  1. Go to Kerf → Settings and find the Kerf AI section.
  2. Paste your Google Gemini API key (a free key from Google AI Studio works great) and click Check the key.
  3. Leave the model selector on Automatic (which pairs Gemini Pro for careful design generation with Gemini Flash for quick tasks) or pick a specific model.
  4. Optionally set your daily request limit, choose which user roles may use Kerf AI, and fill in About your business for context.

Kerf → Build with AI (Full site generator)

Don’t have a ZIP design yet? Open Kerf → Build with AI:

  • Describe what your business or site is about, choose the pages you want, and pick photos from your WordPress Media Library.
  • Kerf AI plans the design system, generates the Home page, inner pages, and marked Blog/Post/404 templates in the background, and hands the finished multi-page site straight to the importer check screen.

Make a page in your existing design

Need an About, Pricing, or Case Study page six weeks after importing your site? Click Kerf → Make a page (or open the Kerf AI panel inside the Block Editor on a new page):

  • Paste your rough words—or upload/paste directly from a Word document (.docx), Google Docs, Markdown (.md), or plain text file—and select any Media Library photos to include.
  • Kerf AI reads your existing site’s HTML vocabulary and CSS stylesheets and builds the new page using your design’s actual hero banners, grids, cards, tables, and buttons while keeping your words verbatim.

Change sections with AI & Convert HTML

  • Change with AI: Select any section in the Block Editor and ask Kerf AI to rework the layout, add a comparison table, or update the content while staying 100% faithful to your site’s CSS classes.
  • Convert HTML sidebar: Have a snippet of HTML from Claude or Tailwind UI? Paste it into the Block Editor’s Kerf → Convert HTML sidebar to insert it as native Kerf blocks or replace the currently selected block—complete with any scoped CSS rules it carries.
