Updating a design & Undo
Apply a revised mockup ZIP section by section under Kerf → Update design without overwriting edits you already made in WordPress.
Design rarely stops at v1. When your designer or AI tool gives you an updated ZIP with a new pricing section, tweaked typography, or a redesigned hero, you don’t have to re-import from scratch and lose the copy changes you already made in WordPress.
How section-by-section sync works
When Kerf imports a design, it stamps each top-level section with provenance metadata (its path, structural key, and content hash). When you upload a newer ZIP or paste updated HTML under Kerf → Update design, Kerf aligns the old and new section trees and classifies every section:
- Unchanged: Identical in both mockups—left untouched.
- Changed in mockup: Updated in the new ZIP and untouched in WordPress—ticked by default to apply.
- Added / Removed: New sections in the updated mockup or sections removed from it—each with its own checkbox.
- Edited in WordPress: Sections where you already changed words or photos in the Block Editor.
Comparing & applying a newer mockup
- Go to Kerf → Update design and upload your revised ZIP (or paste updated HTML).
- Review the side-by-side diff summary for your Header, Footer, Front Page, and any inner pages included in the ZIP.
- Tick or untick individual sections, and leave Update stylesheets, scripts & new pictures enabled if your CSS or assets changed.
- Click Apply selected changes.
Protecting sections edited in WordPress
If you edited a section in WordPress and the mockup also changed that same section, Kerf leaves the checkbox unticked by default and warns you clearly so you never accidentally overwrite live client edits.
One-click Undo
Every import and every design update is wrapped in Kerf’s undo recorder. If you ever want to roll back an import or an update, click Undo last import / update on the Kerf Dashboard or Update screen to restore your pages, header/footer parts, templates, and asset settings to their exact prior revision.
